  1. human epithelial colorectal adenocarcinoma cell line (Caco-2) cells were treated with aronia leaf extracts

  2. an assay known as a Comet Assay was used to assess the amount of DNA damage

  3. CONTROL cells exhibit no measurable damage, but cells treated with the 3 different types of leaf extracts show marked DNA damage (bigger “comet” tails)

  4. The conclusion is that these extracts can be used to counteract the survival and introduce CYTOTOXICITY to tumor (cancerous) cells
